Rep. Leger Fernández Leads Moment of Silence for Victims of Farmington, NM Shooting

WASHINGTON – On May 16, Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernández led the House of Representatives in a moment of silence to honor the victims of a mass shooting in Farmington, New Mexico on May 15, 2023.

She was joined by fellow Representatives Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) and Gabe Vasquez (NM-02).

Farmington marks the 225th mass shooting in America so far in 2023. Three members of the community were killed.

An excerpt from the Congresswoman’s remarks can be found below:

“I imagine a world where mothers and fathers drop off their children at school without fear.

A world where families can gather to worship, or simply be at peace in their neighborhood…

…Every day, we are reminded that we don’t yet live in a peaceful country.”
